Jan 20th, 2014We may become engaged in other people's beliefs or teachings and are quite comfortable in our chosen community.
Some of us may pursue the search for a savior, a teacher, a guru, a religious leader who makes us feel special, feel chosen, we finally belong, THEY know the secret. Their 'god' may be an angry god, a jealous god, a god that accepts you only if you follow all the rules and regulations. If you jump through various hoops, wear certain cloths, chant certain mantras or stand on one leg during the full moon, etc., you may be one of the chosen ones.
Some of us are drawn to kill and torture others who do not believe the same as we do. Many of us sacrifice our lives and live in denial for our 'god' of choice. Some of us take on the 'victim' or 'martyr' roles. Many of us are constantly angry do-gooders simmering quietly in not being 'chosen' or recognized and honored despite all our good works, sacrifices, devotion, whatever.
The world ... is a place whose purpose is to be a home where those who claim they do not know themselves can come to question what it is they are. And they will come again until the atonement [at-one-ment] is accepted - http://www.weboflove.org/courseinmiracles#sthash.h2xDdqAX.dpuf
